Service learning program

Our Service Learning Program provides two hours of interaction and mentorship with high school “Bigs”. During that time, the children are allowed time to complete homework assignments from school; after any homework or classwork is completed students are encouraged to work on social skills, problem solving, and critical thinking skills. By pairing high school students with elementary students everyone is given an opportunity to interact in a new way, and learn in a positive and encouraging environment.

Summer day Camp

The Summer Day Camp will provide daily supervised learning activities centered on literacy. In addition to the curriculum, the students take part in educational, as well as fun, field trips and onsite activities. Students will attend the Summer Day Camp for eight weeks starting the first week of June and ending the third week of July. Our goal for Summer Day Camp is to help curb the learning loss that can occur between May and August. The students participate in interactive, creative, and literacy-focused educational activities and games in the morning. Afternoons are spent at the museum, libraries, swimming, bowling, skating, and the nature center at Lake Murray.
